First, select a color and enter your text. It will be rather helpful if it shows up well against the background color. | |
Keep the text "selected." It will look "outlined" the entire time you are working on it. (Examples are shown without the outlines so the steps are easier to follow.) | |
Click on Image, then choose Effects 1 and "Cutout." Now, make sure Fill Interior is off (if you ever use other filters for your text, this will prove helpful), and choose "white" as your Shadow Color. Set Opacity to "65," Blur to "2," and both Offsets to "1" ("2" if it's larger text). | |

Three dimensional effects can be achieved using different shadow colors, different offsets, etc. Experiment! |
