What's new in the Wererat's Lair

September 15, 2024: Sorry to announce that Rat-help, which had lasted nearly three decades, has ceased. We had a pretty good run, and I'm leaving this section of "classic" answers up, though there's now plenty of articles and case studies over on Rat Guide. With a search engine even!
September 28, 2023: Finished that site (with a few hours to spare): StillFit. I had a lot of fun with the colors.
September 20, 2023: Still here! Designed one more small business site, that should be ready by the 29th-ish. I keep saying "this is the last one." We'll see. We're also still here: Starfinder campaign, updated at least monthly. I can't believe it either.
December 2, 2021: Finished that site: IBEW Local Union 812. I always enjoy making a new site (everything design-wise on the 812's site is new; the text is their own), as opposed to updating sites, but I don't mind doing that either, really. Yes, I do update this site.
October 19, 2021: Didn't mean to, but offered to take over another local web site. Designing is the part I love best, and since we got the Rat Guide all spruced up last year (only took twenty years), I apparently decided I needed one more. Coming soon-ish.
August 23, 2021: Removed the "Bookstore" from the Lair. I kept the books, but honestly, most of them are out of print or have newer versions. Nothing else really new, but the Starfinder campaign has continued on its merry way, and we have journals for that, which include a rat-shaped drone that is a troublemaker.
July 15, 2020: Updated our photos (I was six years behind-- I was busy!) to include Molly's photos from Facebook. So yeah, blame social media-- I've never been a fan, really!
July 14, 2020: It takes a lot of effort to keep a site looking and sounding like it came from the mid- 1990s (which the "main" Lair did). I noticed that the midis and applets had stopped working at some point. Probably a decade ago?!? Anyway, I've replaced the applets and converted the midi file format so that they will play for you now. Aren't you lucky?
July 12, 2020: After four years (and COVID-19), our group is done with our Pathfinder campaign and moving on to a Starfinder campaign. We've finally blown up everything we can in a decade of Pathfinder and are ready to head out further into the galaxy. Yours truly is playing a Ysoki; I never thought I'd have the opportunity to play a rat-person! Wish Hugh luck with us.
June 24, 2019: Yes, we are still here, no new rats, and we haven't killed off our Ustalav campaign yet. Just converting over to https (why did I ever code this by hand back in 1996?) to make the search engines happy; otherise, welcome back, and enjoy some Y2K content!
October 31, 2016: We blew up another Pathfinder campaign in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings (this seems to be a pattern), so started a new campaign in the "horror realm" of Ustalav. I keep calling it Ravenloft.
October 10, 2014: We blew up a Pathfinder campaign in the Mwangi Expanse this past Sunday with a not terribly spectacular TPK, so will be starting a new campaign in and around the Lands of the Linnorm Kings and Irrisen.
July 16, 2014: We lost Molly today. She was one of the sweetest rats we've ever had, and is missed.
July 22, 2013: Hugh's running another Pathfinder campaign, and I see I've not actually posted a link to our stuff for it. No journals, but if you have a group running the Serpent's Skull campaign you can at least look at our "loot" list and feel better about your own group's treasure, wonder why we are killing the flavor text, or laugh at my Oracle/Paladin that should have died months and months ago.
January 10, 2013: Free surprise today! Someone took a lone, young female rat in to our vet's office due to severe allergies, and the office contacted us as adopters. We brought Molly home. So, Hugh and I are not ratless anymore.
December 9, 2011: We lost Tango today. Our two-pound little fellow will be missed, and now we are ratless.
September 16, 2011: We lost Whiskey today. A very sweet boy, often willing to sit and be scritched. We'll miss him, as will his last brother Tango.
September 4, 2011: We lost Victor today. Our kissiest rat ever; he will be missed.
July 10, 2010: Piper, our last little gerbil, left us today, three weeks shy of her third birthday. She will be dearly missed.
June 14, 2010: We lost Duchess, the mother of all of our other gerbils today. She was a vibrant little character right to the end, and will be missed by us and her remaining girl Piper.
June 12, 2010: Hugh's running our summer game group again: Pathfinder campaign. So far, no TPKs!
May 30, 2010: Polly passed today after a brief illness. We will miss her very much.
December 10, 2009: We lost Peri, one of our dear little gerbils today. She was a sweet, friendly girl that is sadly missed by her family.
November 27, 2009: We were re-ratted on November 12: V-rats. Please welcome Tango, Victor and Whiskey!
November 11, 2009: We lost Sammy today. He was one month shy of 3 years old. We will miss our little friendly, inquisitive boy.
September 29, 2009: We lost Sherlock today from age-related illness. He was our little shy, kissy boy, and is sadly missed. We still have Sammy, almost three; hopefully he will be with us for many more months.
June 11, 2009: Hugh's running another Pathfinder campaign with different gamers. So far, so good!
January 27, 2009: We lost Sully today after a brief illness. He was our little sweetie; we were blessed to have him for more than two years.
December 12, 2008: My poor site-- even when I add updates, I forget to post them here. I have about a year's worth of rodent (gerbil and rat) photos that I just posted: rodent galleries. I feel caught up now.
September 19, 2008: After a half-summer hiatus from D&D (and the near-demise of 3.5 rules), we're starting a new Pathfinder campaign using the "3.75" rules.

September 9, 2007: Male gerbils are safely back with my nephews, and the mom (Duchess) and her two daughters are here. She provided us with one more pretty little baby a few days ago.
September 2, 2007: After a summer hiatus from D&D, we're starting a new Greyhawk campaign this month; let's see if this one lasts!
August 3, 2007: My nephews just got three "male" gerbils before their family vacation. I am babysitting those three, and their surprise litter....
May 22, 2007: Remembered to take some rat photos off my camera (from two months ago). Our boys are nearly all grown up!
January 23, 2007: We are Re-ratted. Please welcome Sammy, Sherlock, and Sullivan!
January 22, 2007: We lost Bean and Biscuit today. Both were struggling with different illnesses. We've never lost two at once before; I'm heartsick and ratless.
January 11, 2007: Er, still forgetting to update the page here. I've finally posted my character art for the past year (we blew though characters so quickly that I didn't get backgrounds for most of them), the DVD collection and reviews are constantly updated, and we'll be rolling out a new Eberron campaign here in a few days, so start placing your bets.
January 3, 2007: We lost Basil today after an extended illness. He was mommy's special little kissy boy and is sadly missed.
September 17, 2006: We took our annual trip to the PA Ren Faire (Scottish Weekend) and took pictures, including the best item of "loot" ever!
July 9, 2006: We visited the first annual Medieval Majesty Ren Faire (right outside our town!) and took pictures. I forgot to have someone take a picture of me.
May 15, 2006: Where's the Were? has been updated-- again!
May 12, 2006: Here's a journal for yet another Forgotten Realms campaign. As predicted in the name, the Wreckage campaign met a spectacular demise.
April 4, 2006: I just realized the bulk of my "main" site is really, really outdated. Please go enjoy Hugh and my DVD collection and reviews or our game stuff, which seems to be where I bother to updates things. (-:

January 27, 2006: Here's a journal for the other Greyhawk campaign-- the one that will likely survive longer.
January 20, 2006: Two new Greyhawk campaigns, one new journal. Yes, this does mean another game world met an unwarranted demise at the hands of our D&D group. Here's hoping Greyhawk survives a bit longer!
